Dear San Francisco Board of Supervisors,
In these ominous days of an out of control, extremely powerful, and dangerous federal government acting with complete disregard for U.S. and international laws and the will of the majority of US residents and the international community in so many areas, including illegal invasion, war, and occupation, illegal abduction and torture, illegal military aid, exorbitant deficit spending, tax breaks for the super-rich, radical cutting of essential services, flippant transgression of constitutional and human rights, the coupling of church and state, and interference with personal choices and private lifestyles, now more than ever WE MUST DEFEND AND PROTECT our right to local democratic governance and civil liberties!
To this end, the Greenwood Earth Alliance strongly urges you to vote for the resolution resisting the federal government’s intervention in the City and County of San Francisco’s investigation of the July 8th, 2005 G-8 protest and expressing support for the California Shield Law that recently passed Committee.
This important resolution will be coming up for a vote in two weeks. For the sake of democracy and constitutional rights, please pass it, and do everything within your power to curb the over-the-top abuses of the United States Government and promote real democracy at the local level.
